22-year-old belgian wonderboy Christophe Soumillon won his first race in 1997 and was awarded 1999 Champion Apprentice in France. He got on the covers on every racing newspaper in June 2001, after he had won the French Derby (Gr.1) aboard Anabaa Blue and returned to the winners' enclosure with tears dropping down his cheeks.
Today Christophe Soumillon has one of the greatest contracts in the world as first jockey for HH Aga Khan in France. In 2003 alone, Soumillon has won three French Classics - The 1000 Guineas (Musical Chimes), 2000 Guineas (Clodovil) and French Derby (Dalakhani), as well as one of the most prestigious races in the world, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1).
